Stockmann, Helsinki

Stockmann, Helsinki 1/2

The first phase of the renovation project of the bay windows and canopy on the 7th floor of the iconic Stockmann department store has been successfully completed!

At the site, roof structures were repaired and the original oak windows were restored to like-new condition. The work was completed just before the snowiest period of winter, narrowly avoiding the need for snow removal.

Thank you to our client! @askoanttilaoy
Thank you to our partners! Jalo&Jalo and Nosto ja Kuljetus APV Oy
And of course, a big thank you to our own team!

A few highlights from the project:
Location: Helsinki city center, busy Aleksanterinkatu
Project: Commercial building renovation, first phase completed and scaffolding dismantled
Solutions: Cantilever scaffolding, scaffold with brackets, and a temporary roof system
Conditions: Autumn–winter, darkness, weather challenges, and a tight urban environment
Safety: MEWPs (mobile elevating work platforms), special lifts to the Stockmann roof (HIAB 36 m), tram traffic and street-level cables taken into account
Quality & cleanliness: A high-profile location – daily cleaning, no disturbance to customers or passersby
Schedule: Work carried out mainly at night, with very limited working hours on the Aleksanterinkatu side
Added value for the client: Safe, weather-protected work in dry conditions – an absolute requirement for the project

It was especially rewarding to see that even while demanding repair work was carried out above, people below could calmly stop and enjoy Stockmann’s Christmas windows. Safety was at the core of the entire project—and it clearly shows in the final result.
