Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What areas do you operate in?

Our main focus is on the Helsinki metropolitan area, where our operations are most efficient. However, we also travel further afield with our customers, within approximately a 200 km radius of the Helsinki metropolitan area. We deliver our scaffolding equipment from Karamalmi in Espoo.

What types of scaffolding and weather protection equipment do you use?

We use Layher equipment from our partner on nearly all of our projects. However, we also work with several Finnish suppliers, so our expertise in scaffolding and weather protection systems extends well beyond Layher. We also use equipment from PERI, Doka and Alfix.

What services do you offer?

We deliver all projects on a turnkey basis.
We handle all aspects of scaffolding and weather protection in-house, starting from the planning and design stage.

What information do you need to prepare a quotation?

The request for quotation should ideally include the following information:

  1. Site address
  2. Intended use of the scaffolding (e.g. eaves-level scaffolding, façade scaffolding, or masonry scaffolding)
  3. Will the sides of the scaffolding be covered?
  4. If no weather protection is required, does the scaffolding need to be covered at roof level?
  5. Work start date
  6. Estimated rental period
How quickly can we receive a quotation?

Different-sized projects require different amounts of time to estimate. Preparing a quotation can take anywhere from one hour to a few days, depending on the size of the project and its design requirements.

What types and sizes of projects do you undertake?

We are happy to provide quotations for projects of all sizes. We can supply a single stair tower to a site or manage the entire scaffolding operation for a project, whether it is a new office building, a major infrastructure project, a multi-building residential development, or a data centre construction site.

What is your pricing based on?

Our pricing is based on current market rates, the complexity of the work and, above all, the quality of our service. In a scaffolding contract, the lowest price does not always mean the most cost-effective overall solution for the customer. We believe it is essential that the scaffolding is properly designed, safely installed and that the work progresses according to the agreed project schedule.
Our pricing includes skilled professionals, high-quality and safe scaffolding systems, work planning, project coordination, and a rapid response to changing site requirements.

A well-planned and properly executed scaffolding solution helps reduce unnecessary work, modifications, delays and safety risks. That is why we always consider the overall cost: our goal is not simply to build scaffolding, but to help the customer’s entire project progress as smoothly, safely and cost-effectively as possible. We also take responsibility when challenges arise and work to resolve them in a way that is satisfactory to all parties.

Can you visit the construction site before preparing a quotation?

Absolutely. In 98% of cases, we visit the site before submitting a quotation.
A site assessment helps both parties—the client and the contractor—understand the complexity of the project and resolve any potential uncertainties before the quotation is prepared.

Can you be involved in planning the construction site before the contract work begins?

Yes. Already at the quotation stage, we usually review the customer’s project schedules and plans so that we can assess the scope of work, resource requirements and implementation as realistically as possible. However, construction schedules almost always change, and adjustments are a normal part of the industry. As a rule, we aim to align our work with the customer’s schedule and the progress of other activities on site.

Once the order has been confirmed, but before the actual scaffolding or weather protection work begins, we are happy to take a more active role in planning the implementation. At this stage, we can review the schedules for different work areas, the sequence of work and scaffolding requirements together with the customer, as well as highlight any issues that should be taken into account in advance.

Our extensive practical experience helps us identify potential bottlenecks before they become problems on site.
Good advance planning helps reduce unnecessary waiting and modifications, while allowing scaffolding installation and dismantling to be better coordinated with the other phases of the construction project.

The earlier we are involved in the planning process, the better we can work with the customer to develop a safe, realistic and cost-effective solution.

How do you ensure the safety of your scaffolding?

Safety is at the core of everything we do.
We provide continuous training for our scaffolders and ensure that the latest safety guidelines are followed. Our experienced site supervisors oversee the quality and safety of day-to-day operations. Safety is always taken into account from the very beginning of the planning process.

How quickly can you start a project?

We update our project schedule daily to maintain an accurate overview of our available resources. During peak periods, however, we need several working days for planning and preparing the required materials. This is a crucial stage to ensure that the correct equipment is delivered to the site from the outset.

Do you offer an on-call service?

While our projects are ongoing, we are always available. We understand that unexpected situations can arise, for example due to changing weather conditions. In such cases, a rapid response is essential to prevent damage. Especially during the winter season, we are well prepared for situations where snow removal may be required at short notice.

What languages do you speak?

At Starteline Oy, our primary working language on construction sites is Finnish, with English used when needed. We can also handle matters in Russian when required. Most of our own scaffolders are Latvian professionals who permanently reside in Finland.

How does billing work?

We always receive invoices as e-invoices. You can find our detailed invoicing information on this page:
